Monroe lots we stripe
ULM has student, staff and event parking spread across campus. St. Francis Medical Center and the other medical offices around town have lots with steady visitor traffic and a lot of accessible parking. Lumen's headquarters campus and other office lots have big employee lots that fill up every workday. On these sites, clear stalls, arrows and crosswalks keep drivers in their lanes.
The Pecanland Mall area and the commercial strips along I-20 have shopping centers, restaurants and big box stores. Then there are churches all over Monroe and West Monroe, schools, apartment complexes and the warehouses and plants around town. Some just need the old layout painted fresh. Others need a new traffic plan because the lot was built for a business that is long gone.

Louisiana heat and rain on lot paint
North Louisiana summers are hot and humid, and the area gets heavy rain through much of the year. Sun fades paint, and standing water on flat lots carries grit that wears lines down. Older lots in low spots may stay wet longer after a storm. The first places to go are entrances, drive lanes and the front rows by the doors, where tires turn and stop all day.
Paint needs dry pavement and a rain-free window to set, so we watch the forecast and plan around it. On sealed lots we stripe once the sealer is ready for paint. If there are potholes or broken edges along the lines, we can do minor asphalt and concrete repair first so the new lines sit on a solid surface.
Louisiana fire code and ADA parking
Louisiana does things a little differently from its neighbors. State law names a State Uniform Fire Prevention Code, either NFPA 1 or the International Fire Code, and the Office of State Fire Marshal's rules list NFPA 1, the Fire Code, and NFPA 101, the Life Safety Code. Local fire departments and the state fire marshal decide what fire lane marking a site needs. Check with the Monroe Fire Department or the state fire marshal on your site.
ADA parking follows the federal 2010 ADA Standards, same as everywhere else. Each accessible stall needs a marked access aisle at least 60 inches wide, and at least one in six accessible stalls must be van accessible with a wider stall or aisle. Stalls and aisles cannot slope more than 1:48. We lay out the stalls, paint the symbol and stripe the aisle.
