Straight Line Services is based in Ruleville, in Sunflower County, so Mississippi is home ground. We stripe parking lots, lay out ADA spaces, paint fire lanes and stripe warehouse floors from the Delta to the Gulf Coast. That covers small-town lots in Cleveland, Indianola and Greenwood, and bigger lots in Jackson, DeSoto County, Hattiesburg and the coast.

Mississippi lots are a mix: churches and schools in every town, shopping centers and medical clinics in the cities, and warehouses and distribution centers along the interstates. Many Delta lots sit on flat clay ground that drains slowly, which is hard on pavement. We look at the surface, the rules and the way the lot is used, and give you a free estimate before any work starts.

Mississippi fire code

The Mississippi State Fire Marshal's office adopted the 2024 editions of the International Fire Code and the International Building Code, effective July 1, 2024. Under the International Fire Code, fire apparatus access roads need at least 20 feet of unobstructed width, and where the fire code official requires it they are marked NO PARKING FIRE LANE.

Cities and counties in Mississippi handle much of their own code enforcement, and they may adopt different editions or local amendments. Curb color, lettering and sign rules for fire lanes can vary from Jackson to Southaven to a small Delta town. Check with your local fire marshal or fire chief before we stripe, and we will match what they want.

Lots we see in Mississippi

Across the Delta, the lots are mostly churches, schools, banks, clinics, grocery stores, farm supply stores and small strip centers. Many are on flat ground with farm fields right behind them. In Jackson, Hattiesburg and Tupelo there are bigger shopping centers, hospitals and office parks. Along the Gulf Coast, Gulfport and Biloxi have casino, hotel and retail lots.

In north Mississippi, DeSoto County sits in the Memphis metro, and Southaven and Olive Branch have large warehouses and distribution centers. Those jobs often mean truck courts and trailer parking outside, and lane and bay lines on concrete floors inside. Fire lanes around big buildings and accessible spaces near the office doors are part of the same plan. We stripe both the lot and the floor, and can plan the work around your shifts.

ADA rules are the same statewide

The 2010 ADA Standards are federal, so a lot in Ruleville follows the same space counts as a lot in Gulfport. A lot with 1 to 25 spaces needs 1 accessible space, 26 to 50 needs 2, and so on up the table. One in six accessible spaces must be van accessible. Hospital outpatient lots need ten percent accessible.

Many older Mississippi lots, especially in small towns, were striped before the 2010 Standards and have too few spaces, no van space or no marked access aisle. When a lot is restriped, the Justice Department has said the accessible spaces must meet the 2010 Standards. That makes restriping the right time to fix them, and we will check your count when we come look.

Working from Ruleville

Ruleville sits on US 49W in the middle of the Delta. Cleveland, Drew, Indianola, Greenwood and Greenville are close by. Jackson is a straight run down US 49, and DeSoto County is north toward Memphis. Gulf Coast and northeast Mississippi jobs are planned ahead so the lot is clean, dry and clear of cars when we arrive.

Call or text 662-719-7737, or send the form. Tell us the town, the type of lot and what you need. We talk it through, come look when needed, and give you a free estimate before any work starts. If the job also needs dirt work, B&M Land Management answers the same number.

Questions

Common questions

Which fire code does Mississippi use?

The Mississippi State Fire Marshal adopted the 2024 International Fire Code and International Building Code, effective July 1, 2024. Cities and counties may have their own adopted editions and amendments, so check with your local fire marshal about fire lane markings.

Do you stripe outside the Delta?

Yes. We are based in Ruleville, but we stripe lots across Mississippi, including Jackson, DeSoto County, Hattiesburg, Tupelo and the Gulf Coast. We also work in Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana and Alabama.

Does Mississippi have its own ADA parking rules?

The 2010 ADA Standards apply everywhere in Mississippi. Some cities add their own sign or marking rules, so check with your city if you are not sure. We lay out accessible spaces to the federal counts and sizes and match local marking rules.

Can you stripe a church lot on a weekday?

Yes. Church lots are usually quietest during the week, which is a good time to stripe. Tell us your service and event schedule and we will plan the job around it so the lot is ready for Sunday.
