The Arkansas Fire Prevention Code
Arkansas uses the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, adopted by the State Fire Marshal. The current version is made up of the 2021 International Fire Code, the 2021 International Building Code and the 2021 International Residential Code, as amended by the state, effective January 1, 2023. Because it is a statewide code, the same base rules apply from West Memphis to Fort Smith, with local fire departments handling the details.
Under the International Fire Code, fire apparatus access roads need at least 20 feet of unobstructed width and 13 feet 6 inches of vertical clearance, and where the fire code official requires it they are marked NO PARKING FIRE LANE. Local fire departments still decide where lanes go and often set curb color and lettering. Check with your local fire marshal before we stripe.

Lots we see in Arkansas
In the Delta towns along the river and up Crowley's Ridge, the lots are mostly churches, schools, clinics, grocery stores, farm supply stores and small strip centers. West Memphis sits where I-40 and I-55 meet across from Memphis, with truck stops, warehouses and trucking terminals that need big truck lots striped.
Little Rock and North Little Rock have the shopping centers, hospitals, state office lots and apartment complexes of a capital city. Jonesboro has a university, hospitals and growing retail. Northwest Arkansas, around Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville, has grown fast, with new retail, offices and warehouses. Each type of lot gets a layout that fits how it is used.
ADA spaces in Arkansas
The 2010 ADA Standards set the accessible parking rules in Arkansas like everywhere else. A lot with 101 to 150 spaces needs 5 accessible spaces. A lot with 201 to 300 needs 7. One in six must be van accessible. Each space gets a sign with the accessibility symbol mounted at least 60 inches above the ground to the bottom of the sign.
Truck stops and big retail lots often have hundreds of spaces spread over several lots. The table is applied to each lot, so a site with a car lot and a separate employee lot counts them separately. Accessible spaces go on the shortest accessible route to an accessible entrance. We work that out when we lay out the lot.

Working in Arkansas from Ruleville
From Ruleville, the US 49 bridge at Helena puts the Arkansas Delta close by, and Memphis is the crossing for West Memphis and Jonesboro. Little Rock is a longer drive, and Northwest Arkansas longer still, so those jobs are scheduled ahead. We make sure the lot is clean, dry and clear of cars when we arrive.
Call or text 662-719-7737, or send the form, with the town, the type of lot and what you need. We talk it through, come look when needed, and give you a free estimate before any work starts. Minor concrete and asphalt repairs can be done on the same trip as the striping.
