Ponds, pads and drainage around Belzoni
MSU Extension says Delta clay takes in water slowly, which is why the region suits catfish and rice. That same clay makes a good pond bottom. If you want a pond for fishing, livestock or looks, or you need a dirt pit, we bring the excavator and dump truck to the site. We will talk through size, depth and where the spoil dirt goes, since it can often go toward a pad or low spot on the same place.
The flip side is drainage. Water that soaks in slowly sits on top. Houses, shops and drives around Belzoni need pads built up with fill and shaped to shed water. Yards need a real grade, which we check with a laser level. Grading and drainage work moves water off the places you use and toward the places it can go.

Woods, hunting and the Yazoo River
The Yazoo River runs along Belzoni, and Sky Lake WMA sits nearby in Humphreys and Leflore counties. There is wooded river-bottom ground all through this part of the Delta, and a lot of it gets hunted. B&M cuts lanes and trails wide enough for a truck and trailer, so you can reach the back of a tract.
When a tract needs opening up, we clear it out of thick timber and push the timber into windrows. If you want to keep the better trees, we select clear instead and take out the brush and the trees you do not want. For a camp, shop or storage building, we can build the pad right after clearing.
Lots and permits in Belzoni
Belzoni has school lots for Humphreys County High School, the junior high and the elementary schools, plus the county courthouse, churches and stores. The World Catfish Festival every April brings more than 10,000 visitors, and town lots get used hard. Straight Line Services stripes new or sealed asphalt, lays out traffic flow, marks fire lanes and no-parking zones, and does ADA approved layout.
For work inside Belzoni city limits, check with Belzoni City Hall about permits. Outside town, check with Humphreys County. Mississippi law requires notifying 811 before any digging, and jobs disturbing an acre or more fall under MDEQ construction stormwater rules. Before burning brush, check local ordinances, MDEQ guidelines and any burn ban.
