Warehouses and lots
DeSoto County is full of industrial and warehouse space, from the DeSoto Trade Center in Southaven to the logistics buildings around Olive Branch along I-269. Warehouses need lines inside. Straight Line Services stripes warehouse floors with lane and bay lines on concrete and paints yellow safety lines along walkways and platforms. Outside, we stripe truck courts and car lots, and mark fire lanes and no-parking zones.
Shopping centers, schools, churches and apartment lots across Southaven, Horn Lake, Olive Branch and Hernando need clear stalls and working traffic flow. We stripe new or sealed asphalt and draw up new layouts. ADA rules scale with size: 2 percent accessible for lots of 501 to 1,000 spaces, and at least one of every six accessible spaces van accessible.

Land work in DeSoto County
DeSoto County has lowland ground in the west that was once cotton country and hill country in the east. Arkabutla Lake, a Corps of Engineers lake on the Coldwater River, sits in DeSoto and Tate counties. That mix means the land work varies. In the west it is flat ground and drainage. In the east it is slopes, timber and ground that washes once it is cleared.
B&M clears lots and tracts out of thick timber with the timber pushed into windrows, and select clears when you want the good trees kept. We haul in fill and shape pads, grade building sites and arenas with a track loader, and grade yards with a laser level. We cut lanes and trails on wooded tracts and dig ponds and dirt pits with an excavator and dump truck.
Permits in Southaven and DeSoto County
Each city has its own office. In Southaven, the Building Department, part of Planning and Development, handles permits, plan review and inspections. Olive Branch, Horn Lake and Hernando each issue their own permits. For land outside city limits, the DeSoto County Planning and Building Department in Hernando reviews permit applications.
DeSoto County also runs a land disturbance process alongside MDEQ. For sites disturbing 1 to less than 5 acres, the county lists the joint MDEQ and DeSoto County small construction permit plus a county land disturbance application. Sites of 5 acres or more need the large construction permit. Mississippi law also requires notifying 811 before any excavation.
